Hi, I’m Rachael, and I learned photography by chasing little ones who pulled off headbands and ran away from the camera.

My photography story started in 2010, when I moved to Northern California with my husband, a native of Winters. We bought a 1960s one-bath home with a grapefruit tree in the backyard and began building our life here.

When we welcomed our first daughter a year later, I began blogging as a creative outlet. My husband gifted me my first DSLR, and I started photographing everything from nursery details to family milestones.

By 2015, our family had grown with the addition of two more little girls, and I began taking photography clients for the first time while continuing to share stories through my blog.

In 2016, we began homeschooling, a season that would shape our family and my creative work for the next decade. I began contributing essays, tutorials, and photography to a homeschool magazine, creating work that resonated with families navigating the same intentional rhythms we were living.

Over time, my work expanded beyond blogging and magazine features. In 2019, my lifestyle photography was published in books by HarperCollins, allowing me to share my work with an even wider audience. That same year, our son arrived, bringing a new chapter of moments to document.

Through my photography and writing, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with thousands of readers through my newsletter on faith and motherhood, as well as a longstanding Instagram community.

Childhoood is a magical time full of wonder, imagination, connection, and little moments that deserve to be remembered. The photographs I treasure most are the ones that remind me of the childhood we were creating for our children and what those years felt like to live.
